Empowering young people with essential oracy skills
We know that oracy is an important part of the national curriculum in England and Wales, teaching children to develop their spoken language skills to communicate effectively. It’s widely reported that young people with poor communications skills are less likely to find employment and more likely to suffer from mental health difficulties.
The Department for Education says that 1 in 5 children are not at the expected level for communication and language by the end of their first year at school. We also know that children as young as 5 years old develop stereotypes about careers.
Our Speak for Success schools programme uses the real-life experiences and skills of barristers to support young people to develop their oracy skills. Our free teacher resources are packed with engaging activities for key stage 2 pupils aged 7-11 years old.
“These are a set of high-quality resources that would be easy to use and adapt within a classroom.”
