Following the Bar Council elections for membership of the 2019 Bar Council, there are two vacancies in the category of 'employed Junior over 7 years in practice'.  

In line with Part II, 7(d) of the Bar Council's constitution, these vacancies may now be filled by appointment.  The one-year terms will commence on 1 January 2019 and end on 31 December 2019. 

Expressions of interest are therefore invited from practisingemployed Juniors or QCs over 7 years in practicewho wish to join the Bar Council.All candidates must be employed juniors or QCs who first became eligible for a full practising certificate more than 7 years before the date of their election to Bar Council.  Members of the Bar Council are expected to attend Saturday morning Bar Council meetings and all candidates must hold a valid practising certificate.  

This is a good opportunity for members of the employed Bar to gain an insight into the work of the Bar Council and to have a voice on issues affecting the profession. 

Candidates are asked to submit a short statement of no more than 200 words to demonstrate their suitability for the post by 10am on Thursday 8 November 2018to [email protected]. These statements will be circulated to Bar Council 2018 members who will each vote for their preferred candidate. It is anticipated that the results will be made known by Monday 26 November and ratified at the Bar Council meeting on Saturday 3 December 2018.
