Law reform
The Bar Council's Law Reform Committee contributes to law reform in the public interest. The committee:
- Considers and develops proposals for law reform and submits views to the Government and others where appropriate; and
- Organises events and activities designed to demonstrate the importance of, and foster an interest in law reform amongst the Bar and those training for a career at the Bar.
In considering proposals for law reform, the Law Reform Committee responds to law reform consultations issued by various government departments and the Law Commission.
The Bar Council's Law Reform Committee also organises the annual Law Reform Essay Competition and annual Law Reform Lecture.
