Mediation Advocacy Training Day

The Bar Council's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Panel is holding an all-day mediation advocacy training event on Saturday 4 February 2017.

The event aims to:

  • Improve your advocacy when representing clients in mediations

  • How best to work with mediators, clients and opponents as a representative in mediations

  • Consider how to prepare yourself and the client for a mediation

The training is designed to be of value to mediators as well as to those new to mediation.


The day will begin with talks on topical issues in mediation and on mediation advocacy. The rest of the programme will consist of the conduct of a real-time mediation(s), with delegates role-playing the parties and their representatives, with assistance from members of the ADR Committee as mediators and moderators. It will be followed by a Q&A session to examine lessons learned.

Training Costs

There will be a charge to attend:

  • £45 + VAT for those who have paid the Bar Representation Fee (BRF)

  • £85 + VAT for those who have not paid the Bar Representation Fee (BRF)
