Legal Aid Billing Seminar Series

Date: 25 September - 14 October 2019

Time: 18:00 - 19:30

Criminal, family or immigration practitioner or specialist fees clerk? Reduce the risk of your own or your counsels' fees being rejected in discussion with our specialist panel and discover what the Bar Council can do to help.

In conjunction with expert representatives from the Legal Aid Agency and specialist publicly-funded chambers and solicitors' associations/firms, the Bar Council will be hosting three events in September and October of this year, each of which has been designed to assist barristers and their clerks with legal aid fee claiming in the areas of crime, family and immigration. Chaired by Adrian Vincent, the Bar Council's Head of Legal Practice and Remuneration Policy, each of our panels will:

  • cover topics such as best practice in legal aid billing and reducing the chances of rejection;

  • provide an overview of the nature and commonality of errors made in claim forms; and

  • discuss effective administration, quality control and what the Legal Aid Agency are doing to better their own processes.

These events will be designed around our audience and, as such, we are eager to share your questions with our panels in advance. If you would like to submit any queries post-payment, please send them to our Legal Practice and Remuneration Policy Analyst, Kathy Wong, at KWong@BarCouncil.org.uk.
