About the event

The issue of lawyers, how they operate, how they remain ethical, and how they have come to be regarded by the Government, are all topics that have been discussed in parliamentary debates and in the media recently.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Legal and Constitutional Affairs (APPG) is supported and clerked by the Law Society and the Bar Council. They organised a public evidence session focused on lawyers and the state - advice, rhetoric, and ethics - and to look into the complicated relationship between legal practitioners and the executive.

The event was co-chaired by Laura Farris MP and Rt Hon Lord Hunt of Wirral,  and was joined by:

  • the Shadow Solicitor General
