Green recruitment: what it is and why it matters
Monday, 27 June 2022, 12.30pm-1pm
The next generation is looking to join teams that demonstrate their commitment to environmental and social issues. So, as we move into summer, many chambers and employed Bar organisations will be thinking ahead to the next round of recruitment and marketing. Whether or not you plan to attend the Pupillage Fair this year – and we certainly hope that you do – you will be familiar with students collecting stacks of leaflets along with multiple plastic water bottles, tote bags, charging sets, and reusable coffee cups. Despite there being a move towards reusable merchandise, the volume that is given out during these events is huge and may not be as environmentally-friendly as you might think.
Increasingly, many of those who are now seeking pupillage are eco-conscious and want to see meaningful actions by those to whom they apply. We are encouraging chambers to consider their carbon and their waste footprints as part of their recruitment marketing, and to assist you with this, we are inviting pupillage recruiters to attend a lunch and learn with the Sustainable Recruitment Alliance.
Laura Yeates from the Alliance will be available to give an introduction to what green recruitment looks like, how it can benefit your business, and what your next steps might be, as well as answer any questions. This will be a virtual event, so you can tune in during your lunch break.
