This year's focus is on family law

Join us for seminars and meetings in Abu Dhabi between 14 to 17 September 2025.

The visit provides an exciting opportunity to address the recent introduction of family laws for expatriates and explore opportunities for the England and Wales family Bar to contribute to Abu Dhabi’s evolving civil court system and alternative dispute resolution.

Attending this programme is a great opportunity to generate international work, network with other professionals, exchange views, and build knowledge and professional links.

How to join the delegation

We are accepting applications from practising members of the Bar who pay the Bar Representation Fee.

You can apply to be a speaker as part of the visit or apply to attend the seminars and meetings depending on your preference and level of expertise. Please send us your CV and a short statement of your motivation for joining us. If you are applying to speak, please demonstrate your knowledge and expertise related to the subject matter.

We'll update this page with more information as it becomes available.

Funding for international visits

If you are a barrister with up to 7 years of post-qualified experience (PQE), then you could be eligible to apply for part-funding to enable you to participate in international events, activities and programmes such as this visit to the UAE. Our international professional and legal development grant programme will aid your professional development, provide a global perspective on legal issues and help you to thrive in an increasingly competitive legal market.

Apply to join the delegation

Please note that:

  • Given that there may be several equally well-qualified candidates, selection is entirely at the discretion of the Bar Council
  • Delegates are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodation and for bearing the associated costs
  • You will be required to contribute to the evaluation of the visit. This will include participation in an evaluation session and completion of surveys, one directly after the visit and a further survey, 6 months afterwards to assess its impact on your practice
