Working for the Bar Council

The Bar Council is the regulatory and representative body for barristers in England and Wales. It discharges its regulatory functions through the independent Bar Standards Board. This section provides essential information about what a career with us might involve.

I must say that I love my job. I have a great boss and the rest of the team is fantastic too.  

We seek to employ talented and highly motivated individuals at all levels who believe that they can contribute to the future success of the Bar Council and make a positive impact upon the administration of justice. You do not need to hold a legal qualification to work for us, although this is a genuine requirement for some posts. We regularly recruit staff in areas such as:

  • Secretarial / administration

  • Policy

  • Managerial

  • Business support such as IT, human resources and finance

  • Project management, and

  • Marketing and communications.
