The Pupillage Fair

The Bar Council Pupillage Fair will take place on Saturday 27th October 2018:

  • If you are a chambers or other pupillage provider, and would like to exhibit at this year's Fair, email
  • If you would like to attend this year's Fair, check this website, follow @thebarcouncil on Twitter and follow us on Facebook for more details!

The Bar Council Pupillage Fair is the only fair run by the Bar, for the future Bar. A record number of 680 students and 54 exhibitors attended the last Pupillage Fair, on 21 October 2017 (more than twice the number of exhibitors at the next biggest pupillage event).

The event provides an invaluable opportunity for aspiring barristers to:

  • Meet - with representatives from the Specialist Bar Associations, barristers' chambers, BPTC providers and pro bono organisations;
  • Learn - about the reality of life at the Bar, directly from the Bar;
  • Discuss - your options with those who have recently been through the training process for the Bar and with members of pupillage committees, who can offer advice on the application process;
  • Network - with senior, junior and future members of the Bar, to establish professional connections that will support you in your future career.

Click here for last year's brochure, and check for an updated brochure closer to the date of the event.

Attendees are able to attend panel talks covering topics such as:

  • Funding and surviving the BPTC;
  • The dos and don'ts of pupillage applications;
  • A diverse range of practice areas;
  • Diversity at the Bar;
  • How to market and brand yourself as a barrister.

In addition, attendees can attend:

  • The Pupillage Application, CV and Interview Clinic, to receive one-on-one advice from practising barristers; and
  • The Meet the Pupils Clinic, to learn tips on the recruitment process from those who have recently obtained and are currently completing pupillage.

The Bar Council is grateful to the Council of the Inns of Court, the four Inns of Court, AGCAS and the Chancery Bar Association, for supporting the Pupillage Fair.
